A sudden urge to film a meditative figure dressed in vibrant orange compelled me to reach out to Bhante, a Buddhist monk nearby. The image was so vivid in my mind that it drove me to bring it to life. When I met Bhante, our conversation led him to conclude that I had a strong connection to Buddhism from a past life. According to him, there were latent memories within my mind and soul that drew me to him and his temple. While I’m uncertain of the legitimacy and intent of his statement, our discussion made me realize the significance of memories.
Memories are the only evidence our psyches allow of our experiences; they explain our intuitions and reasoning. They shape how we perceive and come to understand the concept of time and its relation to our personal lives. These memories interconnect with our deepest intentions, hidden beneath our ideologies, beliefs, and thoughts. My life is often interrupted by a memory embodied in the form of a specific image—its origins unknown, yet deeply familiar. This usually sparks the beginning of a new creation, a new project. In this life, I am constantly learning how to replicate the visions in my mind to understand them—their meaning, their intentions, and the messages they hold for me.
